G’day all 

It has been a long time since I have updated this blog, so I thought I would add another post for the couple of people who are actually reading it  

Yes still stacking shelves at Safeway! Though one positive was the fact that I turned 19 on February 1^st, which meant a 20% payrise. Nice! 

Last time I wrote a post was three months ago, and a lot has changed since then. Projects have been created, projects have been cancelled, but all in all I feel that I am moving forward in a direction, whether it is the right one only time will tell! 

Last time I posted on this blog I was building my second website, Successful Speaking. Well I finished that site and launched on the first day of 2008. Site hasn’t been doing as well as I would have liked though. One of the main issues was the fact that I cannot get into Google with the right keyword, despite seemingly having a zillion links with the keyword that I want.  

Google has got me listed under ‘Successful Speaking’ (Rank 21, which is pretty good for a site only six weeks old) and ‘Successful Public Speaking’ (Rank 70-odd, which is not too bad), because obviously that is the name of my site. Unfortunately there are a very small handful of people who are searching ‘Successful Speaking’ in Google, therefore I am getting no traffic from them at all! 

The keyword that I want to get into (rephrase MUST get into if I want my site to survive!) is public speaking, which has about 7000 searches a month and about 1000 sites competing for it, most of those only one page from an irrelevant website. And for some reason I just cannot get listed under public speaking, even something as ridiculously low as 900! 

Oh well, I will keep trying and hope for the best! 

Launched my second public speaking site, Ultimate Public Speaking about a week ago. Why do I have two public speaking sites? Good question, not 100% sure what the answer is, other than to say that instead of having one website getting traffic for public speaking, I can get double the traffic if I have two! Both sites subscribe to the same list, so I don’t have to bother sending out different emails to both lists. 

Ultimate Public Speaking is still under construction, (and probably wont be completely finished for another three months) but I do have 10 articles on there already, so it is certainly worth a look if you are interested in public speaking. 

Free Piano Sheet Music is going well. My only frustration is that I cannot break the 700 visitor a day mark! Usually I get around 500 visitors a day, but this goes up to 600-700 when I send out my weekly newsletter. I have twice received 698 visitors on a particular day, but never 700! I am going to try something this week to try and rectify this! Let you know if it works! 

But hey, if this is my only problem, the site must be doing well LOL 

Been fiddling with Web 2.0, looking at social sites and using videos. Unfortunately I am in the 0.0001% of teenagers who DON’T use MySpace, Facebook and/or YouTube on a regular basis, so it is all new territory for me. So I am still learning how it all works and how to use them for marketing, so once I figure it out I will let you know! 

I have one project that is on hold, basically because I couldn’t be stuffed finishing it. Considering how much time and resources I have put into it I probably should finish it, but I was just getting sick of it!!! 

Got a couple of other websites that I have planned which I want to do in a variety of niches, both ones that I have done and ones that I haven’t. I will keep you posted when I have some of those completed. 

So yeah that is about it! ‘Bout time I shut up and get back to work! 

I am going to set up an autoresponder and list for this blog, once I have something more intelligent to say on a regular basis!

Hi I am Chris Carlin, and welcome to my blog! 

I have written this page because I want you to understand more about me, what I am doing and the purpose of this blog. 

I like to think of myself as an internet marketer and entrepreneur, but unfortunately I have not had as much success as I would have liked. The main reason for this is because I have not put the time or effort into my business as I should be doing. I have just completed my Year 12 studies, and along with all of the homework, part time employment and other things, I haven’t been able to devote a lot of time to my website. However, now that I have completed Year 12, I will be spending most of my time working on my business, and probably doing more shelf-stacking at the supermarket  

Okay so what have I done so far? So far I have created Free Piano Sheet Music, which is a website which not only provides public domain free piano sheet music, but also useful articles and a members only section which includes more scores but also a weekly newsletter and a blog. Currently I am entering the public speaking market with a website called Successful Speaking. This website will be devoted to giving away free tips and articles, and also reviewing experts and products, so you can make an informed decision on what products are useful and are worth buying and which ones aren’t.  At the moment I am looking to finish and have the website up around January 2008. The address is www.successful-speaking.com, but I will warn you that there isn’t a lot there…yet! 

I have a couple more markets that I want to enter into, and also a couple of things that I want to do in my current markets. However, I won’t reveal them yet, mainly because I hate to say I am going to do something then never get round to doing it. I have planned what I want to do for the next twelve months, but that could easily change. 

However, I will say is this - the next twelve months will decide whether or not I will continue this line of work or scrap it completely. If I am not getting the results that I want, (or need depending on which way you look at it), then I will discontinue and try something else, probably go to university or something! Also I have some goals I want met during 2008, which, if I don’t attain, will mean that I will stop this line of work. 

So why have I done this blog? Well, as I have said I am going into a range of markets, so I need somewhere where I can join them all together. For example, if someone joined my piano site, and was also interested in public speaking, but didn’t know that I had a site for it, then I would direct this prospective customer to this blog, and from there they could go to my public speaking websites. 

So I hope that explains what I am doing and why. Thank you for reading this, and I hope that you stay with me as I will be giving bits of advice on a range of topics which you could put to use in your own situation. I will be updating this page and this blog when I have something important to share with you.
